NSGA Fall message from the President

Greetings NSGA Golfers:

Thanks to all of you we closed out a very strong season. Our last event at The Pines CC drew 100 entries, and you told us that you will support September events. Overall attendance was up this year to the highest level in the last eight years.

We had to raise our prices significantly in 2023 as these clubs are capitalizing on the popularity of golf and passing on higher food cost. However, our most expensive events were sold out and we hope to bring back all those clubs for 2024. We won’t know prices for 2024 until the schedule is finalized, probably early in the year. Ed Person is working on the itinerary for next year and that process takes several months to nail down the full schedule.

We will open annual membership for 2024 on December 1st, 2023.  At this stage we are uncertain of our sponsors, and need to make sure we can cover our costs. If you or your business would consider sponsorship, please contact any board member. We use that sponsor money to cover the cost of Golf Genius, enhance the prize pool and upgrade the menu.

The NSGA board has 12 members, but four positions do the bulk of the work. Volunteers in these positions are granted no-cost entry to the events.  I will assure you that none of these guys do this for the cost benefit.  We are well set for these positions for the next year, but always looking for future board members who could eventually work in one of these roles.

1.       Technology Director, Tim Janecek, takes care of the web page and assists with any other technical issues with Golf Genius.

2.       Tournament Event Coordinator, Ed Person, works with the clubs to set up all the events with details involving cost, dates, food, prizes and any loose ends.

3.       Tournament Director, Tom Schulte, the most visible position who manages event entries, sets up parings and scores the tournaments.

4.       Secretary/Treasury, Glen Kampschneider, Glen manages the membership, dues and financial aspects of the organization and does the Secretary work.

Remember to thank these guys for all they do. We may be reaching out individually to members about your future involvement.

We also want to hear from you regarding anything we can do better. Thank you for a great 2023 and we hope to see you back next year.

Sincerely

Charlie Wurtz
